SHAMANIC SOUL RETRIEVAL

Soul Retrieval is a practice used in traditional tribal cultures for maintaining the health and balance of individuals and the community.

The soul is viewed as the essence or vital nature of a person, and soul loss is when we lose a part of this vital nature. The act or practice of finding and returning those lost fragments of life force and reuniting them with the person is called Soul Retrieval.

Shamanic Soul Retrieval

Whenever we suffer trauma, an accident or a period of unhappiness in our lives, a part of our vital essence separates from us in order to survive the full experience by escaping the full impact of the pain. This is called soul loss.

There are a number of symptoms of soul loss, for example, when people feel they are not present in their body and watching life as an observer rather than engaging and being fully involved. Other common symptoms are when people feel numb, apathetic or deadened and have gaps in their memory. Other symptoms that indicate possible soul loss are multiple personality syndromes and having difficulty moving on with your life after a divorce or the death of a loved one.

At some level everybody knows what their problem is. They may not be able to define or articulate it, but somewhere they know and can feel it. Often it can be a sense of a void, a feeling that something is not there, something is missing. People who have undergone a serious physical trauma such as major surgery or a traffic accident may say “I’ve never felt the same since then”. Again these are signals of potential soul loss.

In order to retrieve the lost soul parts the practitioner will ‘Journey’ using drums, rattles and chanting, and also with the assistance of their spirit helpers in the other (non-ordinary) reality, to help find, track and return and make the transition with the soul part to this physical world, where the soul part can be reunited with the person.

When the spirit returns it may bring with it all the emotions that the person has blocked out. This is an essential part of the healing process and additional support will be offered by the practitioner allowing these feelings to be expressed in a supportive environment.
